Hi guys
I'm flying out next week on AA137, LHR to LAX, and my company has put me in coach on a B fare. I decided to use 20k miles roundtrip to upgrade as I thought this looked like a good deal. However, it seems this route is a popular one and I've therefore been put on a waiting list. The agent was telling me that there are 5 available seats in business (although AA seat planner shows 9) and 12 people on the list - ouch. Within those 12 there are two EXP and the rest have the same status as me - i.e nothing! However, within these 10, some have different classes of coach, h, y etc., and therefore he suggested to me that my B class had a heigher waiting.
In your experience does the type of coach fare help and are there any other tips I can use to help my seemingly very slim chances

Also, if they have full fare J passengers, would they ever roll them to F and thus free up business class seats for those on the waiting list?
Many thanks
