Well that may be true, don't expect to receive the same services & amenities commensurate with the usual rates. There are many reasons why the rate is lower; occupancy is just one of them.

That'll like be the case. but may I ask, what your alternative. That is short of a time machine. Its not like Marriott will be at all unique in a reduction in service.
As to service, well unless you speaking of Asia service at the $400-600 level just gets you a more comfortable room, which won't change, than standard business class hotel. I'm pretty sure the Gritti and Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit will maintain as best they can their level of service. I've had horrible service at the New York St Regis but then the hotel is mostly a timeshare now.
