I know people have different opinion on that, but we have been taking our kids with us everywhere and it is such a great experience for them (well, for the older one at least). He probably would be very unhappy to know that we went to such an amazing place and did not take him with us to enjoy the beach and the pool at your deck
We also do not really have any relative to leave the kids with while we are travelling, so it is that too
Similar note, been to Conrad Maldives a few times before we had kids and took our 2 and 5 year old to StRegis Maldives last year and they LOVED it. The older son keeps saying he wants to go back to the Maldives and it's the best vacation so far... trying to figure out when to go back to Conrad with kids..
