I'm not sure. Pre-COVID19, I would agree with you on all of those points. However, safety is of paramount concern right now. People have complained about checked luggage forever now in North America and yet they still pay it. Maybe limit the carry-on luggage to elites then? I'm curious what the new normal will be.
