Welcome to Flyertalk lindam. I am unaware of any public transportation to the museum. Have you considered renting a car? It is such an easy drive from LAX to the Getty. LAX is just off the 405 freeway. Take 405 North and get off at Getty Center Drive. Depending on the time of day, will take from 25-45 minutes. There is a very nice restaurant in the museum offering lunch and dinner. The food is quite good and the view is spectactular. Also, there is another area for light dining outdoors. (salads, sandwiches, etc). Another nearby restaurant is the Bel Air Bar and Grill on Sepulveda Blvd. Getty is well worth a visit. Good luck.
