Yeah I agree that the KA brand is too strong to just takeaway and replace with "Cathay Express". I'd argue the name Cathay Express sounds even cheaper than HK Express. An interesting idea I came up with is, assuming CX can receive all KA's takeoff/landing rights in a merger, merge CX and KA yet retain both brands, and lower CX's pay structure to be closer to KA's. Essentially, keep the planes painted in the Cathay Dragon livery but have only one set of higher management and one larger pool of pilots. Mixing the planes and pilots should allow for additional operational flexibility. And, of course, keep UO as is.
