LHR-SYD (PJs and other questions...)
Have just booked my first flight to Australia (will be flying later this year) and this also happens to be my first Club World flight. Have never flown a flight quite this long before (flying direct with a refuelling stop in Singapore)- furthest I have flown is LA.
Am a big fan of Virgin Upper Class, so this is likely to be a new experience for me.
I would love any advice on "surviving" a flight this long (probably should be flying economy, but the thought of 20 hours lodged in a tiny seat is pretty nasty) and feeling the best when I arrive in Sydney. I am flying out to compete in a sporting event several days after landing (so feeling good is important).
What is the best sort of thing to wear (or change into) for a flight this long (I realise that BA don't provide PJs to CW passengers)? Am tempted to take along a pair of Virgin Upper Class PJs, but feel I might get hung, drawn and quartered the moment I put them on.
Also, are meals served to help adjust your body clock (or are they all served on British time?)? What tricks do people use to help adjust their body clocks a bit before they get there (or don't people try to do this)?
Do/can passengers get off of the plane during the refueling stop. If so, what ammenties are there at Singapore?
Are all BA flights to Sydney on 747s? If so, is there CW seating upstairs? If so, is this generally better than the main cabin (I assume it might be, but would love some opinions and advice regarding seating preference). It looks as though I may be flying alone, if so I assume that an aisle seat is best for freedom of movement?
If a friend (or two) is checking in for the same flight (but travelling in Economy), can they check in with me at the Club World counter with me?
I read somewhere that I may need to request the proper inflight ammenity. Is this still the case?
Sincerely,
Boo
(please excuse so many questions - with so many experts around, I can't resist)
