That's how understand it too Still, I find it hard to accept why when I pay for a ticket with AMEX and have a problem with that specific purchase, it is hardly covered simply because I paid another ticket not with AMEX.

I am currently studying Axa's own insurance offering which comes at a similar cost, but without the conditions inserted by AMEX.

Further, I think i have said it before, I do have also an AMEX USD card. In good faith I have tried many times to book via AMEX travel service. In all cases except one I experienced the rates of hotels and flights via AMEX more expensive that what I get when booking directly at the properties or airlines. Hookups with airlines like Etihad are denied by the airline itself Rest the elevated level status at certain hotels, which actually is a tangible benefit in Asia.
