TWAforever mentioned the loophole that the immunity agreement stems only flights to/from HNL. Who knows what else had come up since then. It is similar to people purchasing tickets on Air India to fly from Chicago (departure city) to London (technical stop) or vice versa, which isnt allowed.

It's not really similar, as the Air India example involves multiple countries and fifth freedom rights governed by all sorts of international treaties. This is an intra-US thing.
