Add to that that I can only communicate with them by phone during office hours (in 2020... paying 600€ a year...come on people).
If now all of my transactions are going to be scrutinized they can keep their card. I sure as hell will not be fighting with any issuer who submits me for review because my work sent me to Pakistan, or I rent a Mercedes (which might not be covered anyway in their endless list of exclusions), I’m suddenly a high risk customer.. simply isn’t worth it.
Wow, same here!!! Axa also told me that the entire travel had to paid with AMEX, which is not true, at least I can't find it in the T&C for the Dutch AF/KLM platinum card.
I live outside EU and had not paid my entire trip with AMEX, but I had paid everything inside for my EU side trip in/from Spain, tickets, hotels, food with AMEX. Unfortunately KLM canceled my onward flight from Spain to AMS (from where i would return to my country of residence), without offering an alternative. Thus we had to arrange travel to AMS at much higher cost than what KLM would refund. AXA refused to cover these extra cost, but agreed to pay "reisongemakken" at max 200 pp. Any insurance experts here?

Also agree with your communication gripe. We pay premium fees, but only get to have interactions by phone with ever so kind (in Holland at least) agents, who in some cases are not very experienced and totally ill equipped when a situation is complex.
