There is very little demand for air travel currently and certainly nothing to incentivise multiple flights on routes per day. ​​​​Proper social distancing in line with UK government requirements is almost impossible on an aircraft that is more than 25% loaded - perhaps the figure is even less than that.

If you are travelling at the moment, you are putting yourself and others at risk even where precautions are taken. This is much the same way a lot of people working in essential roles are, really - distancing cannot always be practised in line with guidance and there may be some close contact (with or without PPE). Goes without saying, but it should only be done if absolutely necessary.

The distance involved on any domestic flight is also a distance that would have you face substantial questioning should you be stopped whilst attempting to drive it (which would remove the distancing concerns).

I agree that the picture paints a very bad scene, but unless airlines are ordered to send multiple aircraft each day with 30 or 40 passengers on board, it is an inherant risk of travel currently.
