Got it. I assume you have already looked into points redemption options for accommodation.
I would also consider a backup hotel option closer to the airport to account for any flight delay possibilities. I assume you have D->I flight given the layover times, so maybe the TWA hotel can be a backup option. Either way, i would try to commit to accommodation as closer to departure as possible; given the current pandemic, and NYC being in the epicenter of all in the US, it'd be hard to imagine the $3K price tag rising any further. It might even come down...
