Change fees are waived, but cancellation fees are not.
If you have a refundable ticket, and you change to another, less expensive, itinerary, the change fee will be waived and the balance will be refunded. But if you try to get a straight refund, the cancellation fee will
not be waived. If you want to keep future flight credit instead, you should be able to do that, but you may have to call.
