As much as I hate Delta's 739's for the same reason, a little USB $5 fan makes it a lot more bearable. I do try to get on a 738 before a 739 but sometimes it's unavoidable.
This has saved my life on some foreign carriers, especially AF. Have to take it out for takeoff/landing, but it plugs right into the USB port which IFEs usually have.
