I can't comment on the Westin (except to note that it's location is great if you're heading to a Cards game), but I've got nothing but good things to say about the people and facilities at the Sheraton City Center.
As I recall, there are two room layouts. The standard rooms are as described: a decent-sized sitting area in the front of the room with a couch, table and desk. There's a small hallway along the bathroom that divides the sitting room from the bedroom, which is the only portion of the room that has windows. Then there is a set of true suites that are about the size of two regular rooms. That layout has a large room-size sitting area with a long table, a sink and fridge and a series of couches around the TV near the windows. Then there are two regular-size bedrooms, one with windows and one without.
The hotel was converted from a former shoe warehouse in about 2002, so everything is very new.
One note: The last time I was there, the restaurant was either closed or about to be closed for renovations to turn it into a white-tablecloth eatery. That left the sports bar as the only full-service food in the hotel, and because the Sheraton is wedged into a corner of downtown, there are not too many other options that don't involve a walk of several blocks.
A disclaimer: I was married at the Sheraton City Center in May, so I may be a bit biased toward it. It's really a great hotel with a uniformly friendly and helpful staff. The location downtown leaves something to be desired, but St. Louis is compact enough that it's not a huge deal.
