I remember a couple of Holiday Inn's that had the club type bars from when I was in my early twenties. There were loud disco type places and very popular. A colleague of mine and some friends from the local neighborhood he grew up in used to go to them on Friday or Saturday night. Typically we would go to a neighborhood bar first, to have a cheaper beer or two before going to the club. Most of us were not big dancers so we mainly drank beer and just hung out there as well. Overall it was kind of depressing. If you were a big dancer and outgoing then it would have been a different story.

Anyway, neither of those hotel club bars exist today. One of the hotels has reflagged multiple times over the years and the other was shutdown for a long time until it eventually got repurposed as a Guardian Self Storage location. I am not sure why these types of clubs died out. While drinking and driving is more strictly enforced today, the now very easy access to rideshare (Uber, Lyft, etc.) would mitigate it. Those ride sharing services didn't exist back when the clubs were around. For me, I don't miss them. I found other outlets for socializing that better match my personality and style. I am sure some folks do miss them and have fond memories of them.
