Then again the second line is in all capitals while the first isn't. So maybe it isn't Frankfurt and says something else?

I get that the picture of the gate was at LAX. OP had mentioned the flight departing from gate 74 at LAX was to FRA and I was trying to explain that the first line said London Heathrow and while the second line might be saying Frankfurt, it might be something else, given that a) I don't remember United flying between LHR and FRA and b) the second line was in all capitals, so perhaps it wasn't a destination city and some other thing.
I understand your comments now.
Yes, if the photo is from early 90s, then yes! UA did run LHR-FRA using plane 727 after it purchased the Pan Am LHR routes and operation. I have an old route map somewhere and will post it once I find it.
I think the route was discontinued sometime in 1995/1996.

You have an excellent memory!

My thanks to all of you - I was trying to decipher the last row and completely neglected the London Heathrow row. And, only having travelled to LHR via UA once in the early 1990s, it was from JFK since that's where I needed to meet up with Mrs DELee. So there's no way I could have known any of this first hand since the photos were taken when I was about to go north from LAX to SFO.
That being said, I now recall one of my managers insisting on picking up the published/printed flight schedule when I travelled later in the decade so that he would know what flights were available when. That would have been handy in deciphering the gate photo.
