As to why they're not around, I think it's a mixture of things. Socializing/Dating has changed since then (this club was also known as the local "meat market"). The liability costs have gone up (my cousins sold the family bar in the early 80s because they saw the trend). Customers staying at the hotel don't want to deal with that crap just like most hate when there's large groups staying at their hotel.
What a coincidence. As I was reading through this thread, I remember going to a club at a hotel near BWI, but couldn't remember which one. Yes, I think it was the HI. It was fairly popular. Not a regular there, but maybe monthly for a period of time. There was also a popular country bar in what I think is now a Hilton in Gaithersburg, MD. In that case, the police started monitoring the patrons. An undercover would watch customers leaving the bar, and if at all tipsy, call on the radio to a cruiser parked on the street by the property's driveway, where the customer was promptly pulled over. Its popularity ended quickly. I am surprised to learn from some of the previous posts that these weren't money making operations for the properties.
