For my own case, a typical decent business class point run would be on QR from Asia to EU. This gives ~210 MPC Club Points only (not even enough for OW Ruby or CX Silver), whereas on BAEC it gives 560 Tier Points (600 Tier Points = OW Sapphire or CX Gold status equivalent).
Add a regional ex-TPE business class to South East Asia, and I'd be OWS! This would mean OW Sapphire is much easier to attain on BAEC than MPC for me...
What's the typical cost of one of these QR Asia-EU runs?
Not too familiar with BAEC, but for 560 Tier Points, are we talking about HKG-DOH-LHR, or XXX-HKG-DOH-LHR?
Though its kind of a moot point if you don't otherwise fly much. If you're only flying once a year on QR J, then OWS does not add that much value. Unless you have some intra-Asia trips in Y, then maybe...
