Yes. Alliance helps airlines to avoid opening unnecessary routes. So in the perspective of resources, alliance is going to last.

Not sure. There are numerous rumor about CX's future in term of alliance. So the chance of CX's switching can't be ruled out.

Yes. As of now, there are 3 major airlines group in Europe - BA/IB with OW, AF/KL with ST, and the LH Group with *A.

Given this situation, if any airlines want to switch alliance, it will create a big mess to the point that no regulator will approve.

Absolutely not. Qualifying OWE has become more and more difficult. Yet, the value of OWE has not been dramatically increased to re-balance the difficulty.
