Well i tried calling back today. They agreed to waive the annual fee this time around. Given the rapid changes in the card landscape i think it may make sense to call back multiple times when trying to get retention offers or fees waived. I definitely will be doing this for future cards. In the mean time the Venture remains in the wallet as a backup 2x cashback / 1.5x miles spending card... I will definitely also I try to use the TSA credit this year
