Different generations of 20-somethings, so nightly entertainment options ebb and flow around them.

In 2020, the 20-somethings have discovered that there's no need to go out and actually invest time and energy to meet people when they can just get on Tinder or Grindr. We're in an era where instant gratification and wide selection are demanded by the current generation of 20-somethings.

There is also a trend that began roughly at the turn of the century: Being at home as opposed to going out. (Hugely exacerbated by COVID right now, but disregard the current pandemic for this discussion.) It's far easier in 2020 than it was in 1990 to relax on a comfy sectional at home with a 70-inch HDTV and gorgeous sound, calling up any TV show or movie you want, having dinner delivered to your door. Why deal with the hassle of prepping and dressing for an outing where you don't control the music, you don't control the loudness, you don't control the selection of people around you?
