Question Whatever happened to nightclubs/ party bars at hotels?

I remember that in the 1980s--90s most midscale hotels such as Holiday Inns, Best Westerns, Quality, Ramada, as well as some better brands often had dance nightclubs or party bars, which were open past midnight & featured DJs &or live rock or country bands. Indeed, in many suburbs or small towns, these were the main hotspots--where the action was!
Why did this go out of style in recent years? Now if a hotel has a bar at all, it's a boring, sit-down-and-talk bar without so much as a pool or foosball table and it closes at 9 or 10 PM!
