If I remember correctly, Treasure Island is an independently owned casino which is probably why they are considering opening. Will be interesting to see if they actually make this date. I know the mayor isn't going to stop them

Yes, MGM Resorts sold it to Phil Ruffin (who also co-owns the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas) a few years ago. IMO the governor will certainly extend any quarantine involving the Strip even if only to spite the Las Vegas mayor, so this is a nonissue.
I do feel the nature of the quarantine here really does need to be re-examined, as many "non-essential" businesses have been forced closed even while "essential" businesses that sell the very same things are allowed to continue to operate fully. It's just far too arbitrary, and doesn't even make sense when so many of the "essential" businesses aren't enforcing social distancing at all.
