Stay Report - 4/22 - 4/23
Location: The best you could ask for. At the Gateway Station on the ATL Sky Train and the shortest walk of any of the hotels there. Do note the walk is NOT covered though which isn't fun. It is well signed though. Also note that right now due to COVID the trains are single tracking and running every 9 minutes even during peak times.
Hotel: The hotel is a very nice newer construction Marriott (I believe it's 8 or 9 years old). There's a large lobby which has a bar and a combination gift shop/Starbucks place called Runway East along with another bar and full service restaurant called Champions. There is valet and self parking but it's extremely expensive ($35/30 a night). As you're one stop away from the rental car center it's possible to use this place without a car.
Check In: Not very good. I'd used a SNA and ended up in something called a hospitality suite which isn't a suite but is actually some kind of office with only a murphy bed and a half bathroom? The agent had to find me a suite. Apparently they're all closed off right now for COVID. I asked about breakfast and was told as a Titanium all I could get was one cup of coffee and no food. On check out I learned this was wrong and I could have had a to go bag but by then it was too late. This was one of the worst check in experiences I've had in a while.
Room: The suite was very nice. Large living room, small kitchen area with a mini fridge and coffee maker, large bathroom, large bedroom and large TVs. The only disappointment was the desk area has no power on it and in fact power was pretty sparse throughout the room despite the room being newly designed. The TVs were set up for Internet TV use and there were plenty of closets.
The location of this hotel makes staying here great for arriving into ATL and leaving again. I want to come back when things normalize to try it again.
