I think if you (somehow) managed to instal “big perspex sheets” around each seat in the current Y class config, passengers would be left with virtually no space to actually sit.
12-hour sectors down the back are hardly known as pleasant affairs even now ....... hard to imagine how much worse it could be.

However .... on your point of saving money .......
