It would depend on how often you stay in hotels. I stay about 30 nights a year which gets me to diamond level at Hilton. I could not get to the top level in any other program with 30 stays. While top level at Hilton may not be as good as top level in other programs, I am satisfied with it It gets me lounge access when available and I usually end up getting a six day award at a good hotel in Europe once a year. Generally being an upper level elite is worth concentrating stays in one program.

Of course I should have specified that at my current rate, I'm not really staying enough to qualify for most programs elite status other than when they do some "lite" promotion - just got such an offer from Hilton for silver status. I used to have Platinum on Marriott but that was a fluke year. Now, I'm at about 10 stays a year pleasure and maybe the same on business, so partner programs and promotions are key for me. With this said, would you have a recommendation about whether to consolidate, or wait until a vacation is on the horizon? Still some time left, but I know the Amex-->Marriott transfer ends at the end of this year, so I feel like I have to decide on that and therefore Hilton. So I guess I'm looking for thoughts on if you'd consolidate and do it into Hilton with no elite status opps on the horizon?
