Have exactly that with a CPT in December. Booked the return a couple of weeks after the outbound, and the Avios got shuffled appropriately. All done on the phone, when it was easier to get through, of course!
I did the same. I called over a month later and it was handled very quickly. The agent even said what a relief it was not to have to deal with refunds or vouchers for a change.
