Any ideas on how to resolve this as we potentially will miss getting our return tickets but surely lots of other people are in this predicament?
Welcome to FT Gemma Garland!

Have you found the guide about 2-4-1 vouchers? https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/brit...iscussion.html

There are two methods, calling up to add in the inbound flights, or booking the inbound flights yourself online and then calling to have the voucher applied across the new single booking. All explained in the thread wiki. The disadvantage of the second method is taxes/fees/charges are not calculated as a return and you can end up paying more if you are bokoing say a UK-US return trip - see post 965 for an example.
