Spank the unruly one.

I have heard that if you contact BA that they will send a letter out to you that says the flight wasn't credited to another program and that it was eligable for mile accumulation, which you then send to (presumably) AA and have it credited. Otherwise, talk to an AAdvantage Cust Service rep and see what they say. You might get lucky.
