A quick data point, had the LHR-MAN segment of a MAN-LHR-ORD return trip cancelled in the early hours of Tuesday morning, cash fare and only the new MMB being shown regardless of platform so no hacky website workarounds available. Called up the Gold line using the 020 number at around 10:30am (Three and Skype both cutting the 0800 number off because it seems that they're not correctly detecting that the call has been answered), got through to an agent in less than 2 minutes, no quibble whatsoever on the refund and it's back on the card today.
If you check your phone, BA don't actually answer the call on the 0800 number until it lists the menu options, the welcome to the gold line is played where the ringtone should be. It can be irritating on some operators!
