The only feasible way to get to GRU is on UA and through IAH. Because of a slew of recently canceled domestic routes, my itin now has an overnight in SFO , with a 445 PM arrival, and 730 departure the next AM. (Formerly, my itin was SEA/IAH/GRU with no overnight, and then SEA/ORD/IAH/GRU with no overnight.)
1. Do my checked bags get checked through to GRU as soon as my itin begins, must I claim (all of) them in SFO considering the overnight, or do I have an option at check-in in SEA?
2. Any restrictions on hotels in CA for business travel? (Any special paperwork needed?)
3. If I upgrade only the SEA/SFO to F, does the enhanced baggage allowance carry through for all legs, even then international leg considering the overnight in SFO?
TIA
Care of a speedy reply via Twitter, it's bad news bears all around:
1. Pay for bags at SEA and
again at SFO; no ability to check through to GRU since it's 12+ hours between arrival and departure in SFO (there's no alternative SEA/SFO option on UA and inter-line would only add complications)
2. Upgrading a domestic leg will have
no bearing on the international barrage allowance, even if part of the same ticket; SFO overnight is irrelevant to that allowance
Seem right?
