I called Amex Canada last week and they said to call back later as many have been calling in and perhaps they would do something. If they don’t offer something by the end of the month I am cancelling as it’s very poor to not provide benefits (lounges closed) and insist on a full fee. Not the way to treat customers!
I made the same argument, I said I'm not using any of the benefits. They kept repeating that I was a valued customer, to which I said it didn't feel like it. Not to mention they kept pushing the Gold Card on to me, which is just as useless if I'm not travelling at all. I was less than impressed with the piss poor customer service.
