While we did not see the fare rules being altered after sale what we saw is that some airlines were able to completely remove the promo fares from the archive (ie EY on CMB-DFW F deal, a step limited to EY GDS which was Sabre at that time).
We have also seen intemediary 'solutions' - historical fares only apply for changes if there is no rerouting involved, any change in a routing would trigger 'correct' price application.
