Buy IBM laptops, pay the money for the extended on-site warranty, and it works. A few weeks ago the CD-DVD on my T40 would not recognize a DVD, although it worked fine with CD's. I called IBM service (got a real person who actually knew something about the machine) who talked me though a diagnostic test included in the software that comes with the machine. It verified a failure in the CD-DVD. The NEXT MORNING a replacement drive arrived via Airborne. I plugged it in and it worked perfectly. I put the old drive into the same box, attached the included label, called Airborne and they picked it up in an hour.
In less than 24 hours I had my drive repaired perfectly, at no cost, and never had to leave my home office.
You get what you pay for.
Cheers,
