I didn't see it mentioned in the article based on this thread, but one of the best things people can do is purchase a good headset. Bluetooth earpieces are ok, but a true conferencing headset makes an incredible difference for both you and others. I highly recommend the Plantronics Savi 7xx series. The range is excellent, they come with a kit for fitting it to your head, and the features/capabilities are unmatched imo. Bonus, get the charging cradle upgrade that includes a 2nd battery so you can hot-swap while on calls.
I'm only on a few calls per day and added a wired V-Moda BoomMic to my Sony WH-1000XM3 over ear headphones. I've got one of the units with iffy mic and voice barely picks up via bluetooth on Zoom. Participants say that my voice is very clear with BooMic and it sounds like I'm standing next to them. The inline mute doesn't seem to work with Zoom but everything works even without the headset powered on in ANC modes. I have other wired and bluetooth in-ear with mic but they tend to fall out of my ears when talking.
