I am one who commented on the situation, and I was technically correct (despite some suggesting the contrary). I distanced my human 'feelings' from my strict 'legal' type interpretation, and thus what I didn't display was empathy and most certainly I do have that for the people working at the airline, it must be very very difficult for them at the moment and that will be a gross understatement..
The best flight I have ever had in nearly 40 years of flying was with Air NZ, so was the worst (well, apart from SABENA in the 90's at least!), the difference being the people (crew) in both the best and worst instances. Overall people matter and I love Air NZ, I want Air NZ to survive and I want to return to being a HVC/supporter with them and hope they are able to return to level of business that allows that. I am also a shareholder
There is no doubt the airline is important to the country - many people out there will simply not realise how much cargo (and typically high value cargo by nature) gets forwarded around the world on aircraft and we need the capacity and the links, as business owners and as a country.
All I expect at the moment is to be treated reasonably, fairly, and consistently and I 100% agree with Samyoull 'This is uncharted territory' - for Air NZ and for everyone.
