Unfortunately AC suffers from the same problem that it has for the past few years - inconsistency. Clean that up and they might turn into a decent airline again.
So let's see.. passenger buys consolidator ticket, one reason generally is to save on the fare, in return for certain limitations. OK. Passenger then says that fare-rule allows for free change, but the change was to a portion of the itinerary (connection), not for the complete through-routing. OK. Let's agree not many fares allow change to connecting segment on through-service once travel has commenced; in fact, change in midst is not part of any fare-rule I know of. Next: MapleLeaf says that he received a change that wasn't allowed, but because he got it, this is "outstanding customer service." In the next breath, you complain about AC suffering from inconsistency. So, really, the Agent who helped you should have been consistent with the fare you (or purchaser) decided to buy, deny you the change... but would he still be delivering outstanding service in your view? Is the definition of outstanding service to receive from an Agent that which you want, regardless of a condition of the fare you decide to buy? Even at the cost of benefitting from an inconsistency? hmm..
