I don't know. There's no shame in saying that I can't see the future.

It's April. The smart move would have been to wait to see when travel started to become possible again and then run promotions to try to get butts into seats. This doesn't do that.

If things are as bad as DL is suggesting, they could have made this move in October, because they're basically giving up on the summer travel season anyway, so it's not like they're expecting people's MQM/MQD total to grow during the interim.

Or it's a high bar for DL to choke themselves on, because they'll end up with lots of unhappy Diamonds flying UA and AA. It's just way too early to judge DL's move. They're making a big bet on a slow recovery that they didn't really need to make.
