It's marketing fluff. DL's marketing fluff matters not at all to me. Neither does UA's, nor SQ's, nor anybody else that's sent me a message saying how much they "care" about me, despite the fact that none of them know me.

At the risk of repeating myself, rather than get angry about the things that UA isn't, I think you'll do yourself a huge favor if you accept them for what they are -- which seems like an airline that doesn't meet your needs. Fly DL, or EK, or QR, or CX, or SQ, or whomever treats you the way that you want to be treated.

Yes, they may have to match DL for competitive reasons, but that doesn't mean that DL's move was smart.
