Another 2 data points since AA just updated schedule this past weekend.
One was booked on Priceline nonstop turned into a connection thru CLT for May. Priceline policy is don’t call us until 72 hours to departure. I refer back to original email for ticket#, have aa.com send me email for new itinerary for my records, cancelled PNR on aa.com, submit refund request on aa.com. System flagged it as qualifies for refund despite BE fare. Prior data points required me to pick a drop down reason for refund.
Second data point multi segment international trip booked travelocity.com. One segment now involves a connection thru DCA and a 3 hour delay. Same process as above and prior data points.
Didn’t have to pickup the phone at all to submit the refund requests directly with AA on OTA bookings.
Yeah you can do a chargeback but if all you are interested is getting your money back, submitting a refund directly thru aa is the quickest way to accomplish that. If for some reason you are not able to submit the request then give OTA or AA a call before doing a chargeback.
