Have you read the rules on furlough set out on gov.uk or just the news reports?
When will the employer receive the “reimbursement” of furlough pay?

I particularly want to know the answer to the last one as it is rather critical to advice I am giving to several people.
1. Employers, with some reimbursement from government.
2. In the case we’re discussing, BA
3. Yes, both
4. Whenever the government finally gets round to paying it, which may or may not be imminently

My point is simple. The government is promising £2500 per person made temporarily redundant. Fantastic, a great tonic to a stalling economy, and one I completely support. But make no mistake, someone is paying - taxpayers of this and future generations. Any company that can afford to pay £2500 of their own on top of this should not be eligible for subsidy for that employee. £2500 a month is plenty for anyone in the UK to live on for a while, that’s the reason the government picked that level. If BA can afford to top it up by the same amount or more, they don’t deserve the subsidy for that employee. In my opinion of course. I wholeheartedly with every ounce of my being support helping the low paid right now. But I don’t support using taxpayers’ money to allow those on high incomes to keep said high incomes while on furlough, they should be cut back to the same cap as everyone else.
