A local chef, who owns four restaurants, ranging from upscale Southwestern, upscale seafood, and a wings place, has been doing family style meals, something like $40 for a family of four. I read an article that said he cut his staff from 86 people down to about 12, and he's not sure he's gonna be able to cover the next payroll.
One of my boys just got laid off when corporate closed the Ruby Tuesday where he manages. They had been doing takeout. One of my other sons is working in the only restaurant in a small group (maybe 5-10) that the owners have kept open. They do curb side with 2 employees. The group also owns a grocery store that remains open.
Locally I haven’t seen anyone give up yet (Ruby Tuesday in the Villages is still operating) but I’m sure it’s just a matter of time.
