Yeah, two weeks ago, when this crisis first started hitting home, I bought gas in New Mexico for $1.60. I was very happy to be using my National Emerald free days on a ridiculous Infinity QX80 SUV. I think I was getting something like 16 mpg. It boggles my mind who would ordinarily want to own such a gas hog, but I guess if you're shelling out $75,000 for an SUV, you don't care about the price of gas or otherwise looking for practicality. Had I been in a motorhome, I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven.
I'm kind of shocked that it's still mostly above $2 in the Mid-Atlantic. That is so wrong given the wholesale price. I guess there are enough stations who don't yet feel the need to lower their prices. But I'm sure it's coming.
Meanwhile, if you're unlucky enough to use heating oil in your home, in a month or two, you might want to think about filling your tank for next winter.
