Here's a strange twist. I had canceled a RT flight going out 3/8 and back on 3/12. After I initially booked it, I accepted a $71 upgrade offer. The email confirmation showed the original ticket number with the new total fare including the $71 upgrade.
After AA announced they were giving full ticket value credits with no change fees, and my client restricted travel in March, I canceled the ticket and AA gave me full value credit - including the $71 upgrade.
Today I got an AMEX credit for $71 that AA refunded me because that upgraded flight I originally booked ended up being canceled. So I effectively have made $71 in this transaction. Add this to the list of 249,257 IT glitches.
