The airline cancelled the OP’s flights. Why shouldn’t the airline refund the money? It’s not rocket science. Hundreds of thousands of people are going to be in the same boat but why should the airline not reimburse the money to the passengers who they can no longer provide a service to when the passengers paid for certain dates to travel. Not everyone has the flexibility to put travels off and wait for vouchers or other alternatives to getting their hard earned cash returned.
As pointed out earlier, are these airlines that are offering vouchers etc. instead of a refund going to be around in a few months time? Passengers shouldn’t be put in the position to have to fight this out in the law courts. It really should be a simple fix - unable to deliver on the service, return the money!!
