If they did that the I’d book $5k in a heartbeat.

People who aren’t willing to spend real $ with Hyatt are the ones sucking up the limited TSU upgrades, bombarding staff with email pleas for even higher levels of service than what they are entitled to, showing up at 2am expecting to check in, and on and on. IMHO Hyatt has more and more of these types seeking to exploit the loopholes, push (exploit) the (sometimes amazing) staff while spending little to no money. The end result is a degrading of the experience for those of us that DO pay.
I generally don't spend really money with Hyatt - I spend points transferred from Chase. I think those are still profitable for Hyatt.

$5K in a quarter is the same as $20K in a year - and the fourth quarter is the slowest quarter of the year for business travel for most. I don't see that as much of a break.
