BA, AA and Qantas Comparison of booking facilities in London
I recently had the need to rebook my tickets with the top three oneworld airlines and I hope my experience is the exception rather than the rule
BA: Went to their Regent street office for reissue of a BA issued DONE3 RTW business class ticket. It took 20 minutes to be called to a desk. Curtly told that the minimum charge will be 80 pounds. Advised to go to Paddington for a free reissue. Went to Paddington. Computer down. Asked to go to the airport for a reissue. Went to the airport and checked in the First Class ticket issue counter. Agent did not recognise the AA EXP card and asked me to stand in line at the general counter. Explained that I am a Oneworld Emerald, she still asked me to stand in the general queue as other people behind me will get upset if she takes too long issuing the ticket (People in queue behind me NONE) Went to general counter, reached the desk after 20 minutes Tickets issued within 7 minutes Still chatged 35 pounds reissue fee. London is BA's HQ and the entire experience was extremely traumatic
AA: Went to the airport. Pleasant, quick and no hassles. AA fares desk at Dublin took two hours to finalise the fares.
Qantas: Got my IF miles posted in 21 days. Bought and received a domestic ticket by phone and post. Later upgraded to First class Advised to go to Kings street office for reissue. Very pleasant reception Took 5 minutes for reissue. I was asked to sit and wait in the reception and the booking agent came out behind the counter and handed me the ticket. Felt really good
BA I am glad that I dont fly you unless unavoidable Qantas here I come! AA You are my first choice
I believe ground services are as important as inflight service and comes second only to seat comfort.
Any comments?
