I was travelling back on Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday in emergency circumstances.
I managed to rebook my flights with Cathay Pacific and ended up transiting in Hong Kong just 23 hours before they imposed the transit ban. My destination with CX was Zurich but I live in Spain. I was originally supposed to be flying with Iberia back to Valencia, but after they cancelled their flights I asked them to rebook me back to Spain via Heathrow with BA.
In regards to all my flights with BA, I couldn't have been less bothered about the in flight service. The whole situation was surreal, and I was just incredibly grateful to be on the flight and making progress towards getting home. This said, I do think the service in J/F is poor, and if I'd have been paying for that, I'd not have been too impressed.
But I should really emphasise that all of the crew were amazing - they were flying in incredibly difficult circumstances. They were all professional, friendly and caring. And while I don't particularly enjoy flying with BA, I find the crew to be their one redeeming factor. They are a real asset.
But it's also important to put things into perspective. I don't think anyone is choosing to fly right now, and when they do, it's often a stressful, and even emotional situation. I love flying, but when I touched down in Valencia, even with the situation here, I was just happy to be getting home.
