Just to add to the experiences. I submitted a claim under trip delay for my expenses after getting my return flight cancelled by Copa due to them shutting down operations until April 21 (or who knows when). I was then stranded in Quito, Ecuador for 5 days until I could buy other tickets to get back. I claimed about 400 for food, groceries, airbnb, and taxi expenses. I tried my luck with claims benefits and got a rejection 2 days later (fastest ever response from them).

"Unfortunately, we will not be able to honor this claim because:The reason for the flight delay is not a covered hazard. A Covered Hazard includes equipment failure, inclement weather, labor strikes, and hijacking or skyjacking."

I'm assuming this is the final word or do I potentially have a reason to appeal?
